MY KIND OF SHOPPING

My friend Joan introduced me to my new favorite store. Watson Kennedy .  If you ever get a chance to go it's in the Pike Place Market area on 1st Ave. in Seattle.  This store has such amazing merchandising.  They do fantastic color stories with their displays and it makes the most frugal of shoppers want to open their wallet.  If you manage to walk out of the store without a purchase in hand...I can promise you that you will leave the store with your head spinning and full of great ideas.  I was able to ask the clerk if she would allow me to snap a few photos to share on  my blog and she was so great to let me.  So if you can't make it to Watson Kennedy here are a few peeks into their great store...Hope you enjoy!

Have you got your field trip to Seattle planned yet?

BREATHE IT IN...

The last several weeks have had that smell...you know the one...the smell every spring when the cherry blossoms are at their peak and the lilacs are coming into bloom.  I walk in the evening and just as I turn the corner I see the light post with the beautiful glass lamp buried in the blossoms way up high, glowing pink, and I breathe.  I    B R E A T H E   D E E P...again and again and again.  I can't get enough of the smell.  It brings me back... back to a time...a carefree time of laughter and playing, getting dirty, building forts in the woods, staying up too late and loving every minute of it.  A time of dreaming...such good dreams.  I love this smell.  I love it when it gets carried by the wind which lovingly drops it at my door.  I'm thankful for this smell and how it fills my soul.

Keep dreaming!

TeXtUrE

Saturday was a fun day in Seattle.  I loved capturing all these amazing textures with the camera.  I love old buildings...they have stories to tell.  Check out the pieces of buildings that I took pictures of.

Then there were the iron gates that were very cool...

Now for the slippery glass texture...ummm...what do those people think they are doing up there?  Are they not aware that glass is slippery...especially curved glass!

They just couldn't pay me enough!!!

A BIT OF SUNSHINE

( a bit of sunshine in my kitchen from my SIL Holly)

Have you been lucky enough to have a bit of sunshine resting on your shoulder lately or experience a bit of sunshine that brings a smile to your face?  I have been lucky enough to been touched by the sunshine lately...

Going to a regatta and seeing my sons boat seemingly racing the ferry was definately a bit of sunshine!

Seeing this pooch asleep on the beach during the regatta was a sunny sight...

These two chairs were very sunny...and look at the view they had...

This was a very sunny and wonderful view and it really put a smile on my face...

This was tolo night for my oldest boy and he always puts a bit of sunshine in my life!

NEW PAGES!

How exciting!!!  Blogger has come up with a new gadget called "pages", so now I have figured out a perfect way to show my paintings in a gallery type format.  Doesn't take much to make me happy!  So check out my new "Pages" under my blog title.  You will see "Home", "Paintings from the Garden", "Paintings of Boats", "Paintings of Barns" and so on.  Also, I have added my email so you can contact me if you have any comments or questions.

Have a great day,

SPRING PAINTINGS

Hi!
So are you just itching for warmer temperatures, sunshine on your face, short sleeve shirts and no jackets?  I definately am feeling the need for some Vitamin D.  We actually have been pretty spoiled by having some early spring here in the Northwest...and to celebrate I am going to share my new "Garden Gate" series of paintings with you!  These pictures took me FOREVER to finish...there was the first cold...then the second cold...then picking up extra hours at work for the other people with colds...you get the picture.  So anyway here are the newest images from Talking Brush Studio...

"Garden Gate"
This picture was inspired by a photo that I took on Bainbridge Island.  I love this old gate and as you can see from the photo, I took some artistic liberties!

The next painting I call "Basket of Tulips" You can see why I called it that...

"Basket of Tulips"

This was also inspired from a building on Bainbridge which is some type of toolshed or something...I believe it is VERY old.  I did add a window which does not exist in the real building...

Now for my new attempts at painting images of things that have a breath...yes...real living, breathing, full of life things...

"Mr. Robin"

Don't you love the fence that Mr. Robin is next to.  Here is a picture of it...and yes, it's also on Bainbridge.

And last but not least...in fact quite possibly the best...is "Miss Chickadee".  She's a wee little bird hiding on the handle of the watering can...

"Miss Chickadee"

Miss Chickadee sits on top of my Dear SIL's watering can which lives in Lynden.

Thanks for visiting me and indulging me by viewing my new paintings.  Hope you enjoyed them and I look forward to more new paintings on the horizon.

Blessings,

Meagan

COULD IT BE?

I can't believe the EARLY signs of spring here in the Pacific Northwest!  Truely amazing.  And to my dear friends in the Midwest...Don't hold this against me.  :)
